I keep thinking about Mass on Sunday. The man in the pew in front of me had lost his wife about three weeks previously. The hymns seemed so poignant, and I wondered it they helped him or just upset him. At the end of Mass he turned to me with tears in his eyes, and said I had a beautiful singing voice. (I used to but it’s on its way out now!) I can’t help wondering if I added to his grief or did I help him. I know it’s good to cry.

The words of the hymn were something like …..

The love I have for you my Lord

Is only a shadow of your love for me

Only a shadow of your love for me

Your deep abiding love.

The, the dreams we have are only a shadow of God’s dreams for us.
