My First Wordle

Lovely few days

Well, apart from John being on 20 hour a day bedrest, it’s been good. And the op. wound does seem to be healing at last, so it’s worth it. I’m trying to persuade him to come out cycling this afternooon during his four hour’s freedom.

On Wednesday our birding group saw seven buzzzards in the sky simulaneously near Hornsea. We also heard woodpeckers all round us and had some good sightings too. (Great Spotted)

Friday was excellent at Creative Writing. We were doing journalistic pieces, and kept stopping to argue between readings, so we were obviously good journalists!

I really enjoyed the tutorial at York yesterday. We were looking at Life Writing, and I learnt so much from really good tutor. When I came home I was inspired to start writing, but somehow it didn’t take off! Got bogged down doing Gimp tutorials.

Today, I’ve been to church, took children’s liturgy, prepared a sweet little girl for her First Holy Comunion, and as it’s sunny I’m just going to have a cuppa in the garden. Boiled egg for lunch maybe, with roast beef tonight. Gardening and cycling in between. Bye blog!

Oh and Plurk!

see title!

Nothing on the cards

Ooh absolutely nothing to do today. So I’ll probably

  • take some cuttings for hanging  baskets
  • write two letters
  • pull up valerian and replace with wallflowers (J’s clan flower - not my favourite)
  • do a couple of GIMP tutorials
  • ring Chris and Nigel who are supposed to coming to stay
  • pull up more nettles if it stops raining
  • might plant potatoes
  • sort out inventory in Second Life
  • sort out and back up photos on hard drive

Oh and there’s ironing to do. Plus, meditating twice, studying, coffee drinking, and other usual stuff. And I ought to update my Second Life blog. Haven’t been on that much lately, so not much to say. Perhaps I’ll upload a photo of the standard lamp I made.

Lord, what wind!

Not me personally you understand! It’s been blowing a gale all night. Been to church and told John I’d be late home as I wanted to revisit this large mansion near us that used to have snowdrops all over front grounds. The snowdops weren’t as I remembered from a few years ago, and were past their best anyway, so even if I wanted blurry waving flower heads it wouldn’t have worked. Must post some photos soon. Don’t seem to have done much lately. Too busy teaching myself Javascript. Or it might be Java - can’t remember the difference. Only that there is a difference.

I don’t ‘work’ on Sundays, and all OU is up to date, so will have a leisurely day. Probably read library books, and may log on to Second Life to experiment with making lamps. That’s the easy bit, but I want to make some classy shades. And the really hard bit - find a script for turning the light on and off. The one I have doesn’t work. Or more likely, I haven’t been able to make it work as I’m doing something wrong.

It’s Fiona’s birthday today. She didn’t think they’d enjoy it too much for various reasons (look back to 3/3/09 if you’re interested - Martin’s suing another business) but knowing them they’ll have a good time. I always say they work hard and play hard.

No.1 Detective Agency

I feel like the secretary in that book, who was so proud of her high score at secretarial school. Well, I got 94% for my TMA (three poems and a commentary). I’ve had a super day. We looked at close up photos at the Digital Photography course, and I gardened in the beautiful sunshine this afternoon.

John is only allowed up for 4 hours a day, and he’s being very good about it, although he had four clients this week. He got himself a laptop for using in bed. That means we have a Mac, a PC, and two microsoft laptops in the house.

As I put on yet more weight this week I am really serious about losing it again. Well, I had a few chips tonight (with pizza and salad) but a girl has to eat!

Right! Now I have to do my writing for my Creative Writing class.I also need to catch up on reading (photo magazines, religious periodicals, library book on javascript)

Bed rest

The consultant wasn’t too worried about John’s drainage wound, but he has to have quite a lot of bed rest. He’s only allowed up for a maximum of four hours a day. If it hasn’t closed up in 3 to 4 weeks he has to go back. He’s decided to treat himself to a laptop!

We popped in to see M and F while we were darn sarth, which was good. Haven’t seen them since the New Year celebrations. Martin’s suing a business, and the case starts on Wednesday. It’s going to last a month! Hope it all goes well for him. He and Nigel work so hard and were shafted by this firm.

Off gardening now before the weather gets cold again. I hope I’ve saved the five red rose bushes at bottom right of garden. I’ve pruned them and pulled up all the grass and nettles round them. I’ve also planted a winter flowering jasmine at bottom left of garden. If it grows it should be really nice and cheerful next winter.

If I’ve written all this before, just ignore. ;-)

In like a lamb

Yes, March is so mild at the moment. I have the french windows open. 9.45 and housework done. (Up at 5.45)  John has a checkup at Stoke Mandeville today. We’re slightly nervous as one of the drainage wounds is still open and draining. No way does he want another hospital stay! Anyway, he seems fine in himself.

We had a good Second Life party on Saturday, to celebrate our new island. I didn’t stay that long, as just like in Real Life I get tired with lots of noise and people around.

Correction

Doh. That last post was written on the penultimate day of February.
